Apologies again

Even though I finally managed to get at least one update posted, the blog is getting a little bit less attention these days than at the start of our trip. As I mentioned in the last update, that's partially because we've been busy and out of internet range, but it's also because I'm throwing my efforts pretty heavily behind my new book idea.

At the start of this trip I had the first 15 pages of a novel and an outline. Now I have in the neighborhood of 40 pages complete, and an even better outline. But, believe it or not, I'm putting that book on hold for the moment.

About a million people have asked me if I planned on writing a book about this trip, but I've been reluctant to do so because I dislike the way those kinds of books usually go.

But I finally had an idea about how I could frame a travel story that's (mostly) about this trip, and so far it's been going screamingly. I don't want to say too much more at the moment, but I will certainly keep everyone updated.

And don't worry; I haven't given up on Viva Robusto. I just can't give the best stuff away for free anymore. I'll still post tons of photos and keep you up to date on our travels, but I won't necessarily have time to go into great depth. We'll see how it goes.

Hope you stick with me... the photos I still have sitting in the docket are pretty spectacular, and those won't be available in the book.

I'd Rather Play Outside said...

I will certainly miss the sidelong glances I get when I spontaneously burst into laughter while reading Viva Robusto in the computer lab :)
I'm looking forward to picking your book up at the Barnes & Noble next to REI in Manhattan Beach. For you and Liz, I will definitely spring for hardcover!
Best of luck,
Amanda
