Viva Robusto!

Welcome to our travel blog! We're just getting started; there's a lot to do before we leave on our trip. Let's begin with a quick Q&A session.

Q: Who are you and what the hell are you doing?
A: I'm Dan and this is my wife Liz. We're both from Portland, Oregon. We both have a lot of Italians in our families. We've been married for about 4 years. We're about to take a year off from the daily grind and travel the world.

Q: Oh, I see. A travel blog. What's up with the name?
A: Well, we thought long and hard about what we should name our blog. I thought "turn30ineurope.blogspot.com" would be cool, but there is a 99.9% chance that Liz will turn 30 before we get to Europe, so that sorta blows that idea.

Q: OK, but you still didn't answer my question.
A: Right. We're using the blog to document our upcoming travels, which will include Italy, possibly a little of France and Spain, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Argentina, maybe a little Panama and definitely Mexico. Hmm... "Definitely Mexico" would be a cool name for a blog. But I've already registered Viva Robusto... too late I guess. We chose Viva Robusto because it sounds cool and adventurous... it's sort of like Carpe Diem, La Dolce Vita and La Vida Loca all rolled into one.

Q: So what are you gonna do on this trip?
A: We're going to eat a lot of food. We both want to experience the culinary traditions of all the countries we're visiting... from home cooked meals in the Italian countryside to the most expensive Argentinean steakhouses we can afford.

Q: So you're a couple of huge, fat Americans that are going to eat their way around the world?
A: Hey now. We're not fat. Yet.

Q: So what would you say the average blog post will look like?
A: I'd like to document many of the meals we will enjoy, so hopefully I'll be posting a lot of pictures. We'll also share stories about the places we visit, and more pictures. Basically: Pictures of food, stories about food, stories about the people we meet and the places we go. It will be awesome, trust me.

More soon!
